After a damp day testing with a lack of suitable tyre options on the Friday, we were forced to qualify at Cadwell Park with limited knowledge of the circuit. However, Ricky managed to place the car forth on the grid with a lucky jump into the third place box with a retired Bassom Toyota due to gearbox problems, who was flying in practise.... Ricky was bulked on the rolling start by the Sibley Elan and had to fight to re-position himself when the Moss Anglia and Isaacs Minor slipped through when the red light went out. Built for endurance the 309 gets quicker as the race goes on, picking off the other Elan of David Brewis near the end to regain third after the Kitten swapped ends and deployed the pace car.
Danny experienced much the same start as the Moss Anglia catapulted into second place off the line, which took some reeling in and dicing to regain position, including a brief stint on the grass for evasive action on Danny's part, again, the long distance thoroughbred characteristics of this Thundersaloon racer saw the 309 drop into the 1:39's towards the end of the race to take another third place with a well earnt couple of first in class awards.
Next meeting Donington Park, Aug 24th and 25th... Hope to see you there... Please come and say hello!!!
